What are your three words.  Mine are CYCLES  EXTREMELY AWESOME.  How cool is that and what am I on about.

Last year I read an article about a man who created a new maps application called What Three Words.  He had been in the music industry and had been frustrated when trying to either direct bands to or find them at locations like, back of the building, stage door down the alleyway.

Out in the sticks, a post code can cover quite a big area and you have a good chance of following a Sat Nav down a farm track, where you can see where you need to be but be the other side of an un ploughed field.

He came up with a fantastically simple idea.  He mapped the entire of the globe into 3 metre squares and allocated each square a unique three word reference and one of ours for the guest house is CYCLES EXTREMELY AWESOME.

Why is this so great.  Well, the example given was of a group of walkers who got  lost in a remote moor.  When one of them finally obtained a mobile signal, they called emergency services, but had no idea where they were.  Emergency service told the caller to download the app,  the app pinpointed their location, giving them the three-word reference to with 3 metres accuracy and mountain rescue got to them within 30 minutes

When I told Michelle, she looked at me with the same degree of disdain as if I’d just tried to take a share of her desert in a restuarant.  My son on the other hand was suitably interested.
