So with only 3 days to go before we come out of this lockdown 2 and into a tier structure, I thought I would continue my blog as promised.
This month has, at times gone slow and at times gone fast. We have made an effort to get outside every day and the weather has been okay, not too cold and at least in the most part, dry.

The beach and the sea are still a big draw for us, both as a family and individually.
My sea swim/body boarding has continued, I must admit I have had to buy more and more equipment as the weeks have passed. The dry robe has been essential for warming up (basically a very large warm dressing gown on the inside and a waterproof coat on the outside), plus prescription goggles so I can see what I’m doing (I very stupidly lost my glasses after falling in the dam at Scaling dam whilst trying stand up paddle boarding for the first time). I do look a little strange whilst I walk across to the beach in my swim goggles but I don’t really care. The sea temperature has dropped to around 9 degrees and oh my goodness, it is cold when you first get in. However after the first minute or so, you get used to the cold and once the tingling has stopped, it is really enjoyable. I am determined to keep the sea swimming up and can’t wait to go swimming this Tuesday – December 1stso I can actually say I have been swimming in the sea in December. Some days the waves have been a bit fierce to actually swim and we have tried body boarding which is such good fun. I think sometimes as adults, we forget to actually play and have fun in the sea.

We have been down to the beach a lot, hunted for a few fossils. Explored Boggle Hole beach and enjoyed the sandy sand near the end of the promenade on Whitby beach, definitely the best bit of sand is at this side of the beach as far as I am concerned. The walk to Sandsend is still a lovely walk, especially when it is low tide and you can walk there and back in a few hours (6 miles there and back), I have missed the pub being open so we can rest over a glass or two of something fizzy.
We have definitely embraced the alfresco winter and I do carry hand warmers, just in case we do get too cold so at least we can enjoy being outdoors whilst we can. Plus my flask was the best thing I’ve bought this year (alongside the wet suit).
Our breakfast room is still my new jigsaw room, I still haven’t finished it but I am slowly getting there!

As an independent small business, we are keen to look forward to Summer 2021 and hope that you will continue your support of ourselves as a small B&B in Whitby and remember that although many of you might yearn for a foreign holiday, there are a wealth of gorgeous places here in Whitby and the UK to have a mini adventure next year plus also the opportunity to try lots of new activities. Look forward to seeing you all soon.
